S.M.A.R.T. Opportunity for Teacher Candidates

Summary of S.M.A.R.T. Volunteer/Employment Benefits:
  • Collaborate and share ideas with a number of mature, experienced Ontario Certified Teachers, Faculty of Education Graduates and Teacher Candidates/Applicants.
  • Teaching prospects gain extensive experience delivering and integrating Math with P.E. while learning at least 70+ new games/approaches.
  • Familiarize yourself with the Ministry of Ontario's P.E., Math and Safety strands, as well as numeracy, co-operative games, counting, ball skills, number sense, locomotion, and more.
  • S.M.A.R.T. staff will often network with Teachers, Principals and Superintendents as well as members of Professional Educational Associations (ie. The Ontario Physical Health Education Association, The Ontario Association of Math Educators, The Canadian Intramural Recreational Association, Toronto Schools on the Move).

ABOUT

S.M.A.R.T. (Sports, Math and Recreation Tutoring) is a non-profit summer sports and math program that has been in operation for the past 21 years. They are not associated with any school board but deliver the Ontario Curriculum in Math, PE, ESL, and Art/Music to JK – grade 6 children. With more than three dozen SMART instructors currently teaching in Ontario, their staff consists of certified teachers, Faculty of Education graduates and volunteers. They are a registered charity and provide a number of free and subsidized camps to children living in communities identified as having ‘priority model schools’.
